He was marveling at how great the Chemex coffee is from my old school pot compared to his machine. I don't claim to know what they all are, but one for certain is oils. If I've parked in the sun, I can come out after work to a couple swallows of hot coffee that still tastes fresh.the oils that go rancid are missing from Chemex coffee. I know you purists will scoff, but I love coffee.

There are many more things that can ruin the product of good beans properly roasted and clean water at the right temperature. Chemex filters capture the oils that can spoil the taste and spoil the coffee itself.
No other filters really work well with a Chemex pot, so for those of us who are hooked on Chemex, they are the only way to go. Chemex coffee filters do what they are supposed to do -- filter coffee so that as much coffee flavor as possible gets through, without unwanted overtones.
They make the perfect coffee with fresh ground beans. Chemex are the only filters I have used over the last ten years.
Even standard brand coffee with taste better by using this system- The Chemex system is as close as you'll get and provides equally superior coffee. If you visit Costa Rica the traditional way to make coffe is by pouring hot water through a muslin cloth filter and straight into a clay pot ready for serving. The method yields a clean flavor and by far the best tasting coffee you will ever have.
I highly recommend these, there are many in a box, and are perfect for that wonderful cup of coffee anytime during the day. They are also great for any other coffeemaker, I am sure. Chemex coffee filters are the filters needed to use for the chemex carafe.In my opinion, and I have been drinking coffee since I was 13yrs old,and have tried and used many different coffeemakers and espresso machines throughout the years, this is the BEST.I did experiment with the other filters, as I was out and waiting for these. I had to use 2 and the full body flavor of the coffee wasn't there entirely as it is with the chemex filters.
